Hervey Bay

Hervey Bay is one of Queensland’s most peaceful coastal destinations, famous for its calm waters, long sandy beaches, and easy access to K’gari (Fraser Island). The esplanade stretches for kilometres, lined with walking and cycling paths, cafés, and picnic spots shaded by palms. The marina area is a highlight, with boats departing daily for whale-watching tours and trips across to the island.

Between July and November, Hervey Bay becomes one of the world’s best places to see humpback whales up close, with calm seas creating perfect viewing conditions. Even outside whale season, it’s a lovely spot to relax, fish off the pier, or simply enjoy the laid-back seaside atmosphere that makes the bay so special.
