Barrenjoey Head rises 91 metres above sea level at the northern tip of the Northern Beaches peninsula, crowned by the historic Barrenjoey Lighthouse built in 1881. The headland separates the calm waters of Pittwater from the Pacific Ocean, creating dramatic coastal scenery visible from Palm Beach below.

Two walking tracks lead to the summit - a steep direct route and a longer track winding around the eastern side of the headland. From the lighthouse, panoramic views extend across Pittwater, Palm Beach, the Hawkesbury River mouth, and north along the coast. The sandstone headland features coastal heath vegetation, banksias, and remnant Aboriginal rock engravings.

The lighthouse precinct includes the keeper's cottage and provides guided tours on weekends. The waters around the headland are popular for dolphin and whale watching during migration seasons. The area forms part of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.
